Surah Al-Mulk

THE PURPOSE OF LIFE

Allah (SWT) clearly states the purpose of our life in Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 2:

الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْمَوْتَ وَالْحَيَاةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفُورُ

“{He} who created death and life to test you {as to} which of you is best in deeds....."
A TEST?? When we have a test in school we stress out, and rush to prepare. When we are in the examination hall we are extremely conscious of our every move, watching the clock to make sure we haven't run out of time. After the explanation of this verse, I was thinking…If this life is a test...then why the relaxed, casual attitude about everything? We hear, "Don't worry, relax, it's all good.”
The truth is it's not 'all good' unless you make it 'good', which requires effort and preparation.
We must keep reminding ourselves of the purpose of this life, we must remember this life is A TEST! Why not rush and prepare? Why not remind ourselves we are in the 'examination hall’, and we must be conscious of our every move, and remember in this 'hall' we don't know how long we have, or when our clock will stop ticking!

Allah (s.w.t) created us to test us to find out which of us are best in deeds. The best deeds should contain in them two important parts. One is our intention which should be sincerely for Allah (s.w.t). Other is our deeds which should be in accordance with the Sunnah. Only then they may be accepted by Allah (s.w.t), InshaAllah.

REGRETS

وَقَالُوا لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ أَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِي أَصْحَابِ السَّعِيرِ

They will say: Had we only listened and used our intellect we would not have been among the companions of blazing fire. [Al-Mulk: 10]
Having regrets at that time would be of no use. we will be helpless. To avoid these moments lets change our thoughts and attitudes before it’s too late. May Allah (s.w.t) help us. Ameen

IF ONLY!

When the people are dragged towards the Hell fire, when they hear the painful cry & the roaring of the Hell, they will say,
‘Had we only listened or used our intelligence, we would not have been amongst the inmates of fire.' [Al-Mulk: 10]
So clear and self explanatory. The pain, grief, regret and fear can be sensed. The way this ayah touched me… it can’t be explained... we have to grab the message NOW.

WORDS CANNOT SUFFICE

The turbulent ocean of my words has been stilled to a humming silence. The being of Allah supercedes all I could ever articulate. I feel only small, powerless, humble, awed- my heart in a shameful weeping prostration... Words cannot suffice my inner state. The purpose of my life haunts me- I can find no rest till I become all that Allah asks of me.
